MARSHALL, TEXAS - These photographs of the abandoned Hotel Marshall in Marshall, Texas, were taken in 1989 with my 110mm film camera. A proud downtown landmark built in the late 1920s, the Hotel Marshall has long stood as a testament to the city’s early 20th-century prosperity before falling silent in the mid-1970s. The pink hue seen throughout the images is the result of delayed film development, an unintended effect that, in retrospect, adds a dreamlike, almost ghostly quality to this glimpse of a bygone era.
